BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:unctad.org BEGIN:VEVENT UID:6a525bdfd5612 DTSTART:20140711T060000Z SEQUENCE:0 TRANSP:OPAQUE DTEND:20140711T060000Z LOCATION:Geneva\, Suisse SUMMARY:Ad Hoc Expert Meeting on Addressing the Transport and Trade Logisti cs Challenges of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS): Samoa Conferen ce and Beyond CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister online for this meeting\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Thi rd International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS)\, to be held in Samoa from 1 to 4 September 2014 (Samoa Conference) and the des ignation of 2014 as the International Year of SIDS offer an opportunity to focus international attention on the unique transport-related challenges facing SIDS and consider ways in which these can be better understood and adequately addressed.\n\nAgainst this background\, and in line with the UN CTAD mandate\, including in particular the Doha Mandate\, which directs UN CTAD to "\;advise SIDS on the design and implementation of policies ad dressing their specific trade and trade logistics challenges linked to the ir remoteness and geographical isolation"\; (para. 56(j))\, the Ad Hoc Expert Meeting will provide a platform for expert discussions on transpor t-related challenges facing SIDS and on how best to address these challeng es.
