SUMMARY:Webinar on artificial intelligence deployment for consumer protecti
 on enforcement authorities
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes an essential tool in re
gulatory and enforcement efforts\, consumer protection agencies face both
opportunities and challenges in integrating AI into their work. AI can en
hance enforcement efficiency\, improve detection of unfair market practice
s\, and strengthen decision-making processes. However\, its deployment req
uires careful consideration of transparency\, accountability\, and ethical
use.Recognizing these challenges\, the UNCTAD informal working group on c
onsumer protection in e-commerce (WGE) has been actively exploring the int
ersection of AI and consumer protection. As a result of this work\, the W
GE is developing a checklist for enforcement authorities deploying AI to s
upport them in adopting AI tools responsibly and effectively. This webinar
will provide a platform for consumer protection authorities to share their
experiences in AI deployment. Experts from El Salvador\, Poland\, the Re
public of Korea Thailand and Zambia will present their approaches and disc
uss the challenges they have encountered in integrating AI into their enfo
rcement activities. The session will also serve as an opportunity to gath
er insights for the AI checklist\, ensuring it becomes a practical tool fo
r consumer protection agencies planning to implement AI.&lt\;p&gt\;As arti
