UNCTAD NTM database improves transparency and analysis of the usage of these policy instruments.
Ad-Valorem equivalents provide a cost estimate of NTMs.
Based on data for 109 countries, covering 90% of global trade.
The document explores the TRAINS NTM database to answer questions related to NTM usage and its impact on the economy:
- Which country groups regulate larger share of products and import value?
- Which products groups are more regulated?
- Which type of NTM is most used?
- What is the cost of technical and non-technical NTMs measured as Ad-Valorem equivalent?
- Which countries bear the highest cost for export?
