However\, the growth experienced in developing countries has not always induced a genuinely inclusive development process\, particularly when grow th performance did not generate substantial or durable employment opportun ities.\n\nThe jobless growth experienced by many developing countries has intensified the debate on inclusiveness and equity in the growth and devel opment process. In response to growing concerns about inequality and the f ailure in some developing countries to achieve inclusive development\, Gov ernments have turned to special programmes and strategies specifically aim ed at enhancing the inclusiveness of growth and development.\n\nThe object ive of the expert meeting is to identify social inclusion programmes that could benefit disadvantaged groups within the framework of structural tran sformation efforts\, with a view to highlighting the expected poverty redu ction effects of relevant policies.\n\nThe meeting is expected to:\n\n\n\n Promote among participants a better understanding of social inclusion prog rammes and the synergies with structural transformation efforts from a pov erty reduction perspective\;\n\n\nIdentify best practices in the developme nt of economic sectors with inclusive effects\, particularly agriculture\, small industries and tourism\, and provide access to finance for smallhol der farms and small and medium-sized enterprises\;\n\n\nCast light on ways to maximize the impact of social inclusion programmes on overall economic performance.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInputs from experts\n\nExperts nominated by m ember States are encouraged to submit brief papers (approximately 5–10 p ages) as contributions to the work of the meeting.
