DESCRIPTION:The Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Consumer Protec
 tion Law and Policy is a standing body established under the United Nation
 s Guidelines for Consumer Protection (UNGCP) that meets annually to monito
 r the application and implementation of the guidelines\, provide a forum f
 or consultations\, produce research and studies\, provide technical assist
 ance\, undertake voluntary peer reviews\, and periodically update the guid
 elines.\n \nUN Guidelines for Consumer Protection\nThe United Nations Gui
 delines for Consumer Protection are a valuable set of principles for setti
 ng out the main characteristics of effective consumer protection legislati
 on\, enforcement institutions and redress systems and for assisting intere
 sted Member States in formulating and enforcing domestic and regional laws
 \, rules and regulations that are suitable to their own economic and socia
 l and environmental circumstances\, as well as promoting international enf
 orcement cooperation among Member States and encouraging the sharing of ex
 periences in consumer protection.\n \nWritten contributions\n\nIn order t
 o facilitate deliberations and the informal exchange of experiences and be
 st practices on the topics to be discussed\, member States and observers a
 re requested to submit written contributions to the UNCTAD secretariat by
