DESCRIPTION:​UNCTAD will be in Barbados on 5-7 December 2017 to deliver a
  regional capacity building workshop on “Climate Change Impacts and Adap
 tation for Coastal Transport Infrastructure in the Caribbean”.\n\nThe wo
 rkshop follows two national workshops in Saint Lucia and Jamaica in May-Ju
 ne 2017\, and is being held within the framework of UNCTAD’s UN Developm
 ent Account project on &quot\;Climate change impacts on coastal transport 
 infrastructure in the Caribbean: Enhancing the adaptive capacity of Small 
 Island Developing States (SIDS)”. \n\nThe project aims to strengthen the
  capacity of policy makers\, transport planners and transport infrastructu
 re managers in SIDS to:\n\n(a) understand climate change impacts on coasta
 l transport infrastructure – in particular seaports and airports.\n\n(b)
  take appropriate adaptation response measures. \n\nThe regional workshop
  will bring together seaports and airports authorities as well as a range 
 of other stakeholders\, development partners\, organizations from the wide
 r Caribbean region and experts. It will provide an opportunity to present 
 and discuss the case-studies for Jamaica and Saint Lucia\, as well as the 
 methodology for assessing climate-related impacts and adaptation options d
 eveloped under the project.\n\nIn the light of the impacts of recent hurri
 canes\, the regional workshop is also intended to serve as an important to
 pical forum for exchange on collaborative action amongst stakeholders in t
 he region.\n\nUNCTAD’s implementation of project activities\, including 
 the regional workshop in Barbados\, benefits from collaboration with UNECL
 AC\, UNDP\, UNEP\, the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre\, OECS Co
 mmission\, as well as the ECJRC\, among others.\n/project/climate-change-i
