DESCRIPTION:​Promoting sustainable freight transport systems is crucial t
 o achieving economically efficient\, socially viable\, and environmentally
 -friendly transportation and logistics services. To this end\, UNCTAD is a
 ssisting developing countries design\, develop and implement sustainable f
 reight transport systems.  The overall objective is to strengthen the ca
 pacity of policy-makers\, transport operators and key financial institutio
 ns\, to develop and implement sustainable transport policies and measures\
 , as well as financing actions and mechanisms. Areas of focus over the 201
 4-2018\, include\, the Northern and Central Corridors in East Africa\, and
  selected countries in the Caribbean.Under the framework of its technical 
 assistance project on &quot\;Building the capacities of developing countri
 es to shift towards sustainable transport&quot\;\, UNCTAD is delivering an
  advisory meeting on 2 Mach 2018 in Mombasa\, Kenya\, to support the North
 ern Corridor Transport and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) artic
 ulate the key elements of its sustainable freight transport strategy and f
 urther implementation of its Green Freight Strategy. The NCTT agreement w
 as signed in 1985 between Burundi\, Democratic Republic of Congo\, Kenya\,
  Rwanda and Uganda and South Sudan acceded in 2012.&lt\;p&gt\;​Promoting
