DESCRIPTION:At the occasion of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) 2018\,
  and within the framework of the SDGs Learning\, Training &amp\; Practice\
 , UNCTAD is organizing a meeting titled “Better Trade 4 the SDGs: using 
 trade as a motor for achieving the SDGs”\, in partnership with the ABS C
 apacity Development Initiative and Fairtrade America.\n\nThe meeting\, con
 sisting of four interactive sessions\, will discuss concrete channels thro
 ugh which trade contributes to the SDGs 12 and 15\, which form the theme o
 f this year&#039\;s HLPF. Such channels include:\n\n\nNational Green Expor
 t Reviews for strategizing &quot\;green&quot\; export promotion\;\nSustain
 ability Standards and Trade for assessing the power of sustainability stan
 dards (e.g. eco-labels) to progress on SDGs 8 and 12\; and\nBioTrade Initi
 ative for increasing synergetic reaction between bio-diversity conservatio
 n and inclusive trade growth.\n\n\nThe meeting will help participants impr
 ove understanding on sustainability-enhancing patterns of international tr
 ade\, and help strengthen networks of policymakers\, practitioners and res
 earchers on this issue.\n\n \n\nThis event is organized with the financia
 l support of the United Nations Development Account (projects 1415L and 16
 17AI) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO under the 
 Global BioTrade Programme: Linking trade\, biodiversity and sustainable de
