DESCRIPTION:Enhancing productive capacity through services\n\nOf all the wo
 rld’s economic sectors\, services is the one that accounts for the highe
 st level of economic activity\, contributing to a growing share of gross d
 omestic product\, trade and employment through both direct and indirect ef
 fects within all sectors\, including agriculture and manufacturing. Servic
 es act as inputs to other sectors and create production linkages.\n\nIn ad
 dition\, services can help developing countries to implement the 2030 Agen
 da for Sustainable Development and to achieve goals regarding poverty redu
 ction\, sustainable economic growth\, the reduction of inequalities\, the 
 increasing of exports from developing countries and the doubling of those 
 from least developed countries.\n\nThe Meeting is intended to help develop
 ing countries and least developed countries to identify the policies and i
 nstitutions required to allow them to enhance their productive capacity th
 rough services.\n\nThe session will consider the role of services in the e
 conomy and trade. Both theory and empirical evidence relating to the ways 
 in which services can enhance productive capacity will be examined.\n\nNat
 ional and regional practices and experiences will be shared. International
  cooperation\, including South–South cooperation\, and partnerships cond
 ucive to enhancing productive capacity through services will also be discu
 ssed.\n\nParticipation\n\nThis meeting is open to all member States of UNC
 TAD. Other organizations\, including specialized agencies\, intergovernmen
 tal bodies and non-governmental organizations in the general and special c
 ategories\, as well as academia\, research institutions and the private se
 ctor\, may participate as observers.\n\nInput from Experts\n\nExperts are 
 encouraged to prepare and submit brief papers (5–12 pages) related to th
 e issues contained in the provisional agenda. These papers will be made av
 ailable at the meeting in the form and language in which they are received
