DESCRIPTION:UNCTAD has the pleasure of inviting the Permanent Missions in G
 eneva to the twelfth UNCTAD Debt Management Conference\, to be held at the
  Palais des Nations in Geneva\, Switzerland\, from 18 to 20 November 2019.
 As in previous years\, the Conference will be immediately followed by a me
 eting of the Debt Management and Financial Analysis System (DMFAS) Program
 me Advisory Group\, on 21 and 22 November 2019\, for those countries using
  the DMFAS software in one of their institutions.Background and purpose of
  the meetingThe Conference provides a regular biennial forum for sharing e
 xperiences and exchanging views between Governments\, international organi
 zations\, academia and civil society on current developments in debt and o
 n debt management issues in the broader macroeconomic context.Furthermore\
 , it brings together senior-level national debt managers from around the w
 orld to discuss some of the most pertinent topics in the field today.Aroun
 d 350 participants from over 100 countries\, as well as senior representat
 ives of international\, regional and other institutions\, participated in 
 the last conference\, which was held in November 2017. This year\, the Co
 nference will address such important issues as current trends in the unfol
 ding developing country debt crisis\, recent debt transparency initiatives
 \, policies to support long-term debt sustainability\, the role of debt an
 d disaster relief and the role of the international community in strengthe
 ning debt management. ParticipationThis conference is open to all member 
 States of UNCTAD. Other organizations\, including specialized agencies\, i
 ntergovernmental bodies and non-governmental organizations in the general 
 and special categories\, as well as academia\, research institutions and t
 he private sector\, may participate as observers./meeting/debt-management-
