DESCRIPTION:The coronavirus pandemic has triggered an unprecedented health 
 crisis\, followed by worldwide market disruptions\, forcing the African go
 vernments to impose containment measures and other necessary restrictions 
 to limit the spread of the virus.\n\nAlthough the economic growth and empl
 oyment experienced a significant slowdown\, the COVID-19 outbreak presents
  an opportunity to build back better with support of MSMEs and strengthen 
 Africa&#039\;s production capacity and diversify its export sector to crea
 te a more resilient and sustainable economy.\n\nMSMEs and entrepreneurs ca
 n have a significant function in improving productive capacity and build e
 conomic and social resilience. MSMEs account for more than 90 per cent of 
 businesses on African continent and are the primary drivers of innovation.
 \n\nTo celebrate the MSME Day\, UNCTAD Regional Office launched its first 
 webinar where experts and business stakeholders will share experiences to 
 shape a more sustainable and dynamic private sector.\n\nThe first webinar 
 will highlight the role MSMEs play in accelerating economic development:\n
 \n\n\nStrengthening regional value chains\n\n\nDriving innovation and job 
 creation\n\n\n\nDiscussions will also focus on creating an enabling enviro
 nment for MSMEs&#039\; participation in African economy and its recovery.\
 n\nThe webinar will bring together key stakeholders from the private secto
