DESCRIPTION:Nearly 80% of world trade is carried by sea. For many developin
 g countries\, the figure surpasses 90%. Port efficiency therefore has a di
 rect impact on a country’s ability to participate in international trade
 .\n\nUNCTAD assists ports in developing countries by conducting research\,
  carrying out technical assistance activities and providing training and c
 apacity-building through the TrainForTrade port management programme\, a k
 ey component of which is the case studies that participants conduct to on
  specific problems faced by their port.\n\nThe process requires that the
  participants put into practice what they have learned from the port manag
 ement course and allows them to immediately contribute to improving operat
 ions in their ports.\n\nThe Port Management Series presents the best cas
 e studies produced during each training cycle.  \n\nThis edition of the 
 series features fifteen case studies done by participants from ports in G
 hana\, Indonesia\, Malaysia\, Nigeria and the Philippines. The issues anal
 yzed include the digitalization of administrative processes\, environmenta
 l protection\, human resources management and vessel traffic services.\n\n
 The event will showcase some of the best case studies and is open to the p
