SUMMARY:Tenth International Consumer Protection Forum\, COMPAL Programme
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Tenth Edition of the International Consumer Protection Foru
m will be held online and in Spanish on 7 September 2021 from 3.30 to 6 p.
 m. CEST (Geneva time). \n\nIt will address two major policy issues in Lat
in America: improving policymaking in consumer protection and consumer dat
a protection\, successful experiences and emerging challenges. Consumer pr
otection requires the participation of a variety of public and private ins
titutions with an interest in consumer protection to ensure effective and
homogeneous protection.\n\nThe first session will share the techniques tha
t consumer protection agencies in Latin America use to inform the formulat
ion of public policies\, such as the behavioral insights\, surveys and stu
dies\, and consumer profiles\, among others. The protection of consumer da
ta is a priority for government agencies\, consumer associations and busin
esses\, especially in the context of the digital economy. Given the rise o
f regulations in this regard\, the second session will discuss both succes
sful experiences and emerging challenges that consumer protection agencies
must face.\n\nSince 2011\, UNCTAD&#039\;s COMPAL Programme has been hosti
