The rise in electronic commerce\, further spurred by the pandemic\, adds a new dimension to the challenges t hat these countries need to address in ensuring trade flows efficiently an d sustainably. At the same time\, digitalization has showed great potentia l in improving trade efficiency\, including during pandemics.\n\nAddressin g these challenges including through promotion of sustainable transport an d logistics\, improved port and corridors performance and connectivity\, a s well as simplified\, harmonized standardized and automated procedures an d trade facilitation reforms will be key.\n\nThe Panel will assess global trends and challenges for the logistics of international trade\, and what developing economies can do to reduce their vulnerabilities in the areas o f transport and trade facilitation\, taking into account implications of t he COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nThe discussion will provide a platform for consid eration of key issues and related areas for policy action\, with special r egard to the role of UNCTAD.\n\nPanelists\n\nModerator:\n\n\nMs. Shamika S irimanne\, Director\, Division on Technology and Logistics\, UNCTAD\n\n\nS peakers:\n\n\nH.E.
