DESCRIPTION:The UNCTAD DODR Project aims to be the first step towards the i
 mplementation of online dispute resolution (ODR) for consumers in Indonesi
 a and Thailand. It assesses beneficiaries’ needs\, benchmarks internatio
 nal best practices\, strengthens local capacities and uses emerging techno
 logies like block chain and artificial intelligence to leapfrog developmen
 t stages and deliver ODR. \n\nThe United Nations Guidelines for Consumer 
 Protection (General Assembly resolution 70/186 of 22 December 2015) call f
 or fair\, effective\, transparent and impartial mechanism to address consu
 mer complaints\, including for cross-border cases\, and require online con
 sumers shall be provided no less protection than the one in other commerci
 al forms.\n\nODR is an effective mechanism to provide consumer access to j
 ustice and redress for resolving disputes facilitated by the use of electr
 onic communications and other information and communications technology. O
 DR has been on the rise as a mean to boost consumer trust in electronic co
 mmerce\, including cross-border commerce.\n\nThe DODR project is organizin
 g a dissemination workshop of a report entitled national framework for con
 sumer complaints handling and dispute resolution in Indonesia. The purpose
  of this workshop is to gather key stakeholders in charge of consumer comp
 laints handling and dispute resolution to discuss how to implement the rep
 ort’s recommendations. \n\nThe dissemination workshop will work on:\n
 •    Fostering cooperation bridges among national stakeholders involv
 ed in the Indonesian consumer complaints and dispute resolution system.\n
 •    Increasing Indonesian business and consumer groups’ awareness 
 of the importance of consumer protection and consumer dispute resolution.
  \n•    Defining next steps to enhance cooperation on consumer dispu
 te resolution.\n•    Discussing future steps on the implementation of
  consumer dispute resolution\, in particular regarding advertising campaig
