DESCRIPTION:This intergovernmental group of experts is a standing body esta
 blished under the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection to mon
 itor the application and implementation of the guidelines\, provide a foru
 m for consultations\, produce research and studies\, provide technical ass
 istance\, undertake voluntary peer reviews\, and periodically update the g
 uidelines.\n\nDeliberations at the seventh session of the Intergovernmenta
 l Group of Experts will focus on the following topics:\n\n\nReport on the 
 implementation of the United Nations guidelines for consumer protection by
  member States and relevant stakeholders.\nLatest developments in legal an
 d institutional frameworks: UNCTAD world consumer protection map.\nReports
  of the working groups on:\n\nConsumer product safety\nConsumer protection
  in electronic commerce\nConsumer protection and gender\n\n\nBuilding trus
 t in digital markets through enhanced consumer protection on online platfo
 rms\nConsumer protection and the transition to clean energy\nVoluntary pee
 r review of consumer protection law and policy: Gabon\nReview of capacity-
 building in and technical assistance on consumer protection law and policy
 \n\n\nWritten contributions\n\n In order to facilitate the deliberations 
 and the informal exchange of experiences and best practices on the topics 
 to be discussed\, member States and observers are requested to submit writ
 ten contributions to the UNCTAD secretariat by Friday\, 2 June 2023\, to a
 llow participants to prepare for the meeting.\n\nParticipation and Registr
 ation\n\n This meeting is open to all member States of UNCTAD. Other orga
 nizations\, including specialized agencies\, intergovernmental bodies and 
 non-governmental organizations in the general category\, may participate a
 s observers\n\nOnline registration is mandatory for all those wishing to a
 ttend the meeting and is required for inclusion in the list of participant
 s.\n\nLogistics\n\nThe session will be held with physical participation\, 
 at the Palais des Nations\, and remote participation\, through a simultane
 ous interpretation platform in the six official languages of the United Na
 tions.\n\nA link to the virtual meeting will be sent to registered partici
 pants\, at the email address used for registration\, one day in advance of
