SUMMARY:Benin national workshop: Validation of studies for project to facil
itate transit transport and trade in West Africa for better participation
 in value chains
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:As part of the project &quot\;Facilitation of transit transport
  and trade in West Africa for better participation in value chains&quot\;
national workshops will be organized to:\n\n\nValidate the study on the mo
dalities of interconnection and interoperability of Single Windows of Burk
 ina Faso\, Benin\, Niger and Togo to inspire a sub-regional application:\n
\n\nThis study was carried out with the aim of developing a reflection tha
t goes beyond the simple construction and implementation of Article 10.4 (
Single Window) of the Agreement on Trade Facilitation of the World Trade O
rganization (WTO) and which considers the necessary interactions to be exp
ected between national Single Windows in the context of complex internatio
nal trade transactions.\n\n\nFollow up the implementation of the Quadrilat

in the context of the implementation of the AfCFTA signed in Niamey on 25t
h May 2023 through the validation at the national level of: \n \n\nStruct
ure of a project for a quadrilateral road transport agreement\n\nA quadril
ateral agreement intended to enact the principles of regulatory convergenc
e aims to reflect the new needs of the road transport and intermediation s
ector. To do so\, the quadrilateral agreement would provide the general fr
amework for the organization and operation of road transport\, also taking
into account the development and increase of quadrilateral transport.\n
\nStudy and transitional quadrilateral agreement on the operation of the I
SRT single guarantee\n\nTransit trade is one of the longstanding problems
in the West Africa and ECOWAS region. The common customs guarantee system
covering transport through the transit country to the consignee in the lan
dlocked country faces several operational challenges/obstacles and ineffic
iencies. This study and draft agreement will be discussed at the national
level to lay the foundation to achieve a functional transit mechanism betw
een the four beneficiary countries.\n\n\n\n\n \nhttps://unctad.org/projec
