DESCRIPTION:Following the recent Ocean-Climate Dialogue\, and the focus on 
 increased ambition and the Global Stocktake\, this side event will showcas
 e how UN-Oceans is building synergies at the national and international le
 vels for ocean-based climate change mitigation and adaptation.It will high
 light how collaboration for climate-smart sustainable ocean management and
  planning can contribute to increased ambition for a greater collective im
 pact.The first Global Stocktake\, concluding at COP28\, provides a point i
 n time for Parties to the Paris Agreement and stakeholders to ramp up ambi
 tion to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. The ocean is a vital part 
 of the Earth’s climate system and as such one of the vital “sectors”
  where increased coordination and collaboration across the UN system and b
 eyond can help accelerate action on mitigation and adaptation action for e
 ven greater impact.UN-Oceans members are coordinating to build synergies a
 nd opportunities for climate-smart\, ecosystem focused and sustainable oce
 an management and planning as well as enhanced resilience of critical mari
 time infrastructure. Such efforts require investment and cooperation acros
 s the entire science to solutions value chain from observations to data\, 
 science\, planning and implementation of on the ground action\, including 
 nature-based solutions and governance. Enhancing such collaboration is a c
 lear opportunity towards achieving strengthened\, collective climate actio
 n.This side event will showcase how UN-Oceans Members are individually and
  collaboratively building\, at national and international levels\, capacit
 y and coordination to support and integrate mitigation and adaptation oppo
 rtunities\, as well as means of implementation and support\, under a wealt
 h of multilateral instruments and frameworks including SDG 14 “Life Belo
 w Water”\, the UN Ocean Decade\, the Kunming-Montreal GBF\, Ramsar\, UNC
 LOS and the newly adopted BBNJ Agreement\, and several FAO instruments. It
  will build on discussions in the Ocean-Climate Dialogue and identify oppo
 rtunities for increased collective action both within and outside the UN s
 ystem to achieve growing climate ambitions.Duly registered conference part
