SUMMARY:Technology Assessment In-person Stakeholder Workshop in Zambia
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)
has a project promoting technology assessment (TA) in the energy and agri
cultural sectors in Africa.\n\nIn Zambia\, following a comprehensive revie
w of national development plans\, goals\, and the technological landscape\
, it has been decided that the focus of the TA project assessment will be
on small-scale biogas. Despite widespread use in various developed and dev
eloping nations\, the utilization of biogas remains limited in Zambia. Sma
ll-scale biogas presents a promising avenue for the country to align with
its development targets while steering towards sustainability.\n\nIn order
to ensure a participatory and inclusive approach\, essential for generati
ng appropriate policy recommendations for the TA report\, the insights and
perspectives of stakeholders must be heard. With the aim of garnering val
uable perspectives from all relevant stakeholders\, the Department of Tech
nology and Science of the Ministry of Technology and Science and UNCTAD ha
ve decided to organize a stakeholder workshop. More specifically\, the obj
ective of the workshop is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the cur
rent status of small-scale biogas in Zambia\, and exploring both its oppor
tunities and challenges from the perspectives of relevant stakeholders fro
 m the government\, regulators\, academia\, civil society and the private s
