DESCRIPTION:Background\n\nBuilding economic resilience in the aftermath of 
 the COVID-19 pandemic\, cascading crises and increasing geoeconomic instab
 ility  remains a daunting challenge\, with significant implications for d
 eveloping countries in reaching the Sustianable Development Goals (SDGs) a
 nd acheiving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This depends fun
 damentally on the ability of countries to create and harness productive ca
 pacities to realize development goals. Achieving these ambitious targets r
 equires a shift from fragmented policy measures to systematic approaches t
 o analyzing and building resilient productive capacities.\n\nIn 2006\, UNC
 TAD defined productive capacities as the factors of production\, entrepren
 eurial capabilities\, and production linkages which\, in combination\, det
 ermine the capacities of economies to produce goods and services. Fosterin
 g such capacities is critical for developing countries to achieve inclusiv
 e and sustainable socioeconomic development.\n\nUNCTAD’s Productive Capa
 cities Index (PCI) makes an important contribution to these efforts. It pr
 ovides policymakers with a practical tool to assess productive capacities 
 and their evolution over time. The index can help identify competitive adv
 antages or areas where countries may be falling behind\, spotlighting wher
 e policies are working and where corrective efforts are needed. It suggest
 s a roadmap for future policy actions and interventions under each of its 
 eight components: human capital\, natural capital\, energy\, information t
 echnology\, structural change\, transport\, institutions\, and the private
  sector.\n\nThe High-level Advisory Board on the PCI\n\nThe Board will sup
 port UNCTAD in its endeavor to develop an enhanced work programme on produ
 ctive capacities\, including periodically updating or revising the PCI\, a
 nd contribute to its articulation and analysis at policy\, statistical and
