DESCRIPTION:The world is facing multiple crises: climate change\, increasin
 g human conflicts\, geo-economic fragmentation\, rising living costs\, soc
 ial and political crises - all factors that weigh heavily on LDCs as they 
 try to revive their economies in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nThe
  least developed countries (LDCs) do not always have the budgetary capacit
 y to ensure the continuity of their economic activity and to cope with the
  growing costs of climate change.\n\nThe multiple global crises have creat
 ed a situation where the path to achieving the Sustainable Development Goa
 ls (SDGs) is blocked by interrelated challenges that urgently require dura
 ble solutions.\n\nTo get back on track towards achieving the SDGs\, LDCs n
 eed an international financial architecture that is inclusive\, innovative
  and tailored to their specific needs and challenges. The existing interna
 tional financial architecture does not offer appropriate\, tailored or tar
 geted financial mechanisms for these countries.\n\nUNCTAD&#039\;s Least De
 veloped Countries Report 2023 highlights three key dimensions of developme
 nt finance in LDCs: quantity\, quality and access.\n\nIn other words\, fin
 ancing must be available on the scale required\, provided through appropri
 ate instruments and supported by an international financial architecture t
 ailored to the specific needs of these countries.\n\nUNCTAD is joining for
 ces with the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie to organise a 
 conference to explore ways of urgently addressing the critical financial c
 hallenges facing Africa&#039\;s least developed countries and to propose s
