 ovember 6-7\, 2024\, at the European University Institute in Florence\, ai
 ms to tackle the complexities of rules of origin (RoO) within a fragmented
  global trade environment. This two-day event\, organized with EUI and AD
 B will feature expert presentations and discussions on recent trends\, the
  status of non-preferential RoO at the WTO and the updating of annex K of 
 the revised Kyoto convention as well as innovative practices from various 
 jurisdictions\, including US\, EU and Japan. Participants will delve into 
 the implications of RoO on supply chain resilience\, the challenges that f
 irms face in complying with diverse certification methods\, and the potent
 ial of cumulation provisions to enhance trade facilitation.Key topics for 
 discussion include a study on the different practices on certification of 
 origin and a survey at firm’s level carried out in Vietnam \, informed b
 y a short study presented by UNCTAD at the upcoming CRO in November. The 
 roundtable will also address cumulation issues\, particularly in Africa\, 
 which will underpin a future study funded by the UK. The use of utilizati
 on rates to drive trade facilitation reforms in RoO will be examined\, alo
 ng with the critical importance of firm testimonials to provide concrete e
 vidence during intergovernmental discussions. The roundtable will highlig
 ht the use of websites and tools to assist firms in complying with RoO and
  will showcase best practices in certifying rules of origin and digitaliza
 tion. By fostering a collaborative environment\, this initiative will ser
 ve as a platform for stakeholders to share insights\, propose solutions\, 
 and develop strategies that encourage convergence in RoO standards and pra
 ctices \, thereby supporting a better participation to international trade
