SUMMARY:National consultation workshop on the launch of the United Nations 
 project on the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in regi
 onal value chains

DESCRIPTION:The private sector\, specifically small and medium-sized enterp
 rises (SMEs)\, is critical to Africa’s economic diversification and comp
 etitiveness. However\, in vulnerable economies like the Central African Re
 public (CAR)\, SMEs face several challenges\, limiting their access to reg
 ional markets and potential for growth.To address these challenges\, UNCTA
 D\, in collaboration with other UN partners\, has developed a project to e
 nhance SMEs’ participation in regional value chains. In CAR\, the projec
 t will provide insights into tools and policies for industrial agglomerati
 on\, research on value chains\, and digital and financial technologies to 
 foster regional trade clusters and high-value industrial hubs under the Af
 rican Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).The national consultation works
 hop in CAR\, organized jointly with UNECA’s Central Africa Subregional O
 ffice and the Ministry of Trade and Industry\, aims to advance the country
 &#039\;s AfCFTA strategy\, focusing on enhancing SMEs’ integration into 
 regional value chains. This collaborative event aims to engage key stakeho
 lders in the public and private sectors and to foster discussions on polic
 ies and incentives that facilitate SMEs’ access to critical market infor
 mation\, technology\, and resources to better equip them for regional trad
 e and industrial growth under the AfCFTA.&lt\;p&gt\;The private sector\, s
