SUMMARY:Namibia National Workshop on Quantifying South-South Cooperation

DESCRIPTION:The voluntary Conceptual Framework (CF) for the measurement of 
 SSC\, was developed by countries of the global South and adopted by the UN
  Statistical Commission and the General Assembly in 2022. It came as a res
 ponse to the request of Second High-level United Nations Conference on Sou
 th-South Cooperation to all development actors to support initiatives for 
 information and data collection\, coordination\, dissemination and evaluat
 ion of South-South cooperation (SSC).  It was also “requested that furt
 her work on this\, including on global reporting and capacity building\, b
 e enabled by the co-custodianship of UNCTAD and be led by countries from t
 he global South\, building on country-led mechanisms”.Consequently\, a U
 nited Nations Development Account Project on measuring SSC was set up to m
 eet these needs. Led by UNCTAD\, UN Statistics Division and four UN Region
 al Commissions\, jointly with partners in the UN system\, the project inte
 nds to support seven pilot countries (among which Namibia) in Africa\, Asi
 a and Latin America to measure the financial and non-financial modalities 
 of SSC to inform and target policy actions with the aim to manage and mobi
 lize resources for efforts to achieve the SDGs.Accordingly\, UNECA\, in co
 llaboration with UNCTAD is organizing a national workshop in Namibia to ad
 vance the process both as country capacity building on the subject and as 
 an opportunity to collect countries view on the practicality of the materi
 als supporting the measurement of south-couth cooperation.Purpose of the w
 orkshop The objectives of the workshop are (i) to strengthen the capacity
  of national agencies in Namibia to identify\, measure and report on South
 -South cooperation flows as contributing factors to the 2030 Agenda\, (ii)
  to engage national agencies in Namibia involved in South-south cooperatio
 n initiatives and (iii) to establish the basis for SSC data collection and
