DESCRIPTION:At the closing plenary of its seventy-seventh executive session
 \, on 5 February 2025\, the Trade and Development Board decided to convene
  a special session of the Board\, at the earliest date possible\, for the 
 consideration of the 2024 edition of the Economic Development in Africa Re
 port.Economic development in Africa: Unlocking Africa’s trade potential 
 – Boosting regional markets and reducing risksThe nexus between trade\, 
 regional integration and stability is analysed in the report\, with a view
  to advancing effective mechanisms to strengthen Africa’s resilience in 
 the face of interconnected global challenges.A road map is provided for pr
 oactive and adaptive strategies and programmes through which trade enterpr
 ises\, economic agents and investors (domestic and foreign) can use trade 
 (particularly intra-African trade) and regional cooperation (enhancing tra
 de and economic partnerships) to mitigate perceived exposure to shocks and
  address immediate vulnerabilities to the polycrisis.Participation and Reg
 istrationRegistration should be completed online and is required in order 
 to be included in the list of participants.Permanent representatives of St
 ates members of the Board are requested to inform the UN Trade and Develop
 ment (UNCTAD) secretariat of the name and title of their representative(s)
 . Kindly note that the credential letter of your representative(s) should 
 be uploaded on to the system during the online registration process.Other 
 participants (i.e. representatives of members of UN Trade and Development 
 that are not members of the Board and representatives of specialized agenc
 ies\, non-governmental organizations and intergovernmental bodies wishing 
 to attend as observers) are also eligible to participate in the session as
