 ed Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3)\, to be held on 9-13 June 2025 in Nice
 \, the support of Member States and other stakeholders becomes increasingl
 y critical for the Conference’s success. In March 2025 in Geneva\, the U
 N Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in collaboration with UNDESA\, FAO\, UNEP
 \, UNDOALOS\, the Commonwealth\, the Organization of Africa\, Caribbean an
 d Pacific States\, and the International Ocean Institute\, organized the F
 ifth UN Ocean Forum to strengthen the economic and trade aspects of SDG14.
 Co-chaired and co-sponsored by France and Costa Rica\, the 5th Ocean Forum
  brought together approximately 500 stakeholders both in person and online
 . This year the  Forum focused on the “Ocean economy\, trade policy\, a
 nd the climate and development nexus\,” resulting in the issuance by the
  Co-chairs of 15 action-oriented recommendations for the UNOC3 process. At
  the Ocean Forum\, substantive discussions were supported by a Background 
 Note prepared by UNCTAD and FAO.ObjectiveThe briefing will contribute to i
 nforming the preparatory process for the United Nations Oceans Conference 
 about the outcomes of the UN Ocean Forum. Ms. Luz Maria de la Mora\, Direc
 tor of the International Trade and Commodities Division at UNCTAD\, whose 
 team led the organization of the Ocean Forum in Geneva\, will share the Co
