SUMMARY:Capacity-building workshop on port equipment electrification
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The workshop is organized by UNCTAD under the framework of the
UNDA technical assistance project on &#039\;Sustainable Smart Ports for Af
rican countries\, including SIDS to “recover better” from COVID-19&#03
9\; (2022-2025).  The workshop aims to build the capacity of national sta
keholders to plan\, implement\, and finance the electrification of port eq
uipment. The workshop follows up on the recommendations and priority actio
n areas identified in Port Louis’s SSP Assessment report. Building capac
ity in port equipment electrification—powered by renewable energy— was
identified and endorsed by stakeholders as a high-impact strategic priori
ty.Insights and learning provided as part of the workshop will equip key s
takeholders with the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions
and plans about port equipment electrification. This includes the ability
to elaborate an action plan that guides future implementation of port equ
ipment electrification and informs related investments while ensuring alig
nment with national sustainability goals. Participation in the workshop i
s by invitation only and targets a wide range of stakeholders involved in
port operations and entities involved in electricity generation and distri
bution and promotion of alternative energy sources in Mauritius. Participa
nts will learn from the best practices derived from approaches and experie
nces of other ports and provide valuable technical insights through expert
-led discussions. The capacity-building workshop will be structured around
the following thematic areas:Day 1: Policy and strategic framework require
