SUMMARY:Second National Consultation on Green Industrialisation in Malaysia
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Unlike many poorer developing countries\, the Malaysian economy
counts already established and successful industrial sectors that are sup
 ported by a well-maintained infrastructure. However\, premature de-indust
rialisation tendencies also remain a core challenge the Malaysian economy
faces\, amidst growing exposure to climate change impacts\, such as rising
temperatures\, increases in rainfall and severe flooding and the need for
coastal adaptation programmes. Systematically integrating climate change
adapation measures and the development of green technologies into wider i
ndustrialisation and development strategies is therefore of vital importan
ce.Building on key insights gained at the first national consultation\, th
is high-level meeting will bring together national policymakers\, research
ers and stakeholders from the private sector as well as civil society to d
iscuss proposals for core integrated national policy strategies to respon
d to current challenges to continued green transformation and development
in Malaysia\, including through strengthened coordination between institut
ions and with stakeholders.&lt\;p&gt\;Unlike many poorer developing countr
