DESCRIPTION:On 5 June 2026\, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD)\, through it
 s Extractive Commodities Section within the Division of International Trad
 e and Commodities\, is organizing the presentation of the report ‘Rapid 
 assessment of value addition and diversification within and beyond the cri
 tical energy transition minerals value chain: Madagascar’ in Antananariv
 o.The report is the result of UNCTAD’s project Critical energy transitio
 n minerals: Rapid assessment of value addition and diversification capacit
 y in Southern Africa\, funded by the Government of Japan. The project supp
 orts Madagascar in identifying actionable pathways for industrialization a
 nd economic diversification beyond raw commodity exports.The advance versi
 on of the report consolidates analytical findings\, sectoral opportunities
 \, and policy recommendations aimed at strengthening economic resilience\,
  creating jobs\, and fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.Objectives
  and expected outcomesThe event will provide a platform to present the rep
 ort’s key findings and recommendations to national stakeholders. It aims
  to ensure that policymakers\, development partners\, the private sector\,
  and other stakeholders have a shared understanding of the opportunities f
 or value addition and diversification identified in the assessment.The eve
 nt will also facilitate dialogue on implementation priorities and next ste
 ps\, including discussions with development partners on mobilizing technic
 al and financial support for Madagascar’s industrialization and economic
  transformation agenda.More broadly\, the launch aims to reaffirm Madagasc
 ar’s commitment to structural transformation and inclusive development\,
  enabling the country to capture greater value from its commodity sectors 
 while advancing sustainable economic growth.The event is expected to:• 
    Raise awareness of the report’s findings and policy recommendation
 s\; •    Strengthen stakeholder commitment to advancing their imple
 mentation\; •    Identify priority actions and coordination mechani
 sms to support Madagascar’s industrialization and diversification agenda
 . Format and participantsThe event will take the form of a high-level pre
 sentation and stakeholder dialogue.Participants will include senior govern
 ment officials from ministries responsible for industrialization\, private
  sector development\, and mines\; representatives of the private sector\; 
 development partners and donors\; academia and civil society\; as well as
