The aim is to share knowle dge and expertise between port operators and strengthen talent management and human resources development in port communities.The PMP’s main objec tivesStrengthen institutional capacity and management efficiency of ports and related agencies.Promote port community participation and public-priva te partnerships.Enhance the competitiveness of ports and the quality of th eir services.Improve the environmental sustainability and social responsib ility of ports.The PMP provides technical assistance in various areas\, in cluding port planning\, management and operations\, logistics and supply c hain management\, port security\, safety and environmental protection\, an d legal and regulatory frameworks. It also organizes training courses\, wo rkshops\, and seminars\, as well as conducts research and analysis on port -related issues.<\;p>\;From 17 to 24 August\, 2026 participants will f ollow the delivery of module 3: Functionning of a port system.<\;/p>\; <\;p>\;As part of the activities of the French-speaking network of the TrainForTrade Port Management Programme (PMP)\, the trainees of the 3<\ ;sup>\;rd<\;/sup>\; promotion\, 26 port managers (17 women\, 65.4%)\ , of the port community of Douala are starting the delivery of the course on Modern Port Management (240 hours) from September 2025 to March 2027. T he trainees will draft theses consisting of case studies concerning a real problem and providing concrete recommendations to improve the performance of the port community of Douala\, Cameroon.<\;/p>\;<\;h4>\;Progra mme outline<\;/h4>\;<\;p>\;The UNCTAD TrainForTrade Port Managemen t Programme (PMP) supports port communities in developing countries in del ivering more efficient and competitive port management in the future.
