SUMMARY:COP31 side event: Trade\, de-risking investment and partnerships fo
r green industrialization and adaptation at scale
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The event will explore policy and financing options that levera
ge trade\, investment\, and de-risk investment in climate mitigation and a
daptation. Identifying feasible solutions alongside private sector and par
tners\, is critical for strengthening the trade\, investment\, green indus
trialization\, and climate action links.   Trade and investment are
key enablers of sustainable development. They support domestic and intern
ational resource mobilization and improve the accessibility of developing
and least developed countries to climate-related goods\, services\, and te
chnology. Together\, they have the capacity to accelerate green industrial
ization and the implementation of climate plans.  However\, investme
nt in adaptation\, including in sustainable infrastructure\, continues to
lag\, making green industrialization more challenging. In particular\, the
lack of financing has left hard-to-abate sectors behind in green transfor
mation. There is a pressing need to identify feasible solutions to unlock
financing for market development and adaptation. Furthermore\, the increas
ing adoption of trade-related climate measures has the potential to affect
the competitiveness of developing countries and their access to internati
onal markets. This calls for policies that support inclusive economic tran
sformation and sustainability.  The event will bring together policy
 makers\, investors\, SMEs\, other stakeholders\, and partners to showcase
solutions that strengthen market access and sustainable production\, integ
rate environmental impact assessment into trade agreements\, mobilize inve
stment in resilient infrastructure\, and deliver adaptation at scale.
The side event will be live on the COP31 digital platform (only registered
conference participants will have access to it). Only duly registered co
nference participants are permitted to access the conference venue.  &l
