UNCTAD-SECO public debt management project in Indonesia on track

The Ministry of Finance of Indonesia last year requested UNCTAD to provide support in strengthening the country's capacities in debt management against a backdrop of rising central government debt levels -- increasing from USD 120 billion at the beginning of the decade to USD 170 billion at the end of 2009 -- although the debt ratios are still within conventional sustainable limits.
Norway to audit debt on basis of UNCTAD principles

The Minister of International Development of Norway, H.E. Mr. Heikki Holmås, announced last Friday that Norway would carry out an audit of developing countries’ debts to Norway, and a review of the loans that Norway has made, on the basis of the Principles on Promoting Responsible Sovereign Lending and Borrowing consolidated by UNCTAD.
Consultation held on Aid for Trade in Arab region

UNCTAD organized a consultation last week with the Head of the Islamic Trade and Finance Corporation (ITFC) and representatives of the League of Arab States to discuss a new programme to boost trade and reduce unemployment in the Arab region.
