UNCTAD Report explores the links between income distribution, growth and development, arguing that inequality is neither a necessary condition for sound economic growth, nor its natural result. Pro-active fiscal and income policies to reduce income gaps influence economic growth.

The Government of Lesotho, in collaboration with the SADC (Southern African Development Community) Secretariat and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), with the support of UNCTAD, is organizing a National Seminar on Trade in Services Negotiations from 2 to 4 July in Maseru, Lesotho.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the inaugural China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTS) in Beijing on 28 May, UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi said many service sectors can play a crucial role in achieving poverty reduction and other social goals.​
