Coaching workshop in Mauritania, the latest member of the French-speaking Port Management network

Eleven senior port managers from the ports of Mauritania successfully completed a Coaching workshop preparing them for future deliveries of the course on Modern Port Management in Mauritania, from 14 to 19 October 2016. With enhanced knowledge on methods and pedagogical tools of course delivery, graduates now look forward to acting as local instructors of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade course in their home ports.

Le 3ème séminaire de diffusion du cours sur la «Gestion Moderne des Ports» s'est tenu du 27 juin au 8 juillet 2016 pour la 11ème promotion de Cotonou. Au terme du séminaire, un voyage d’études aux ports de San Pédro et d’Abidjan en Côte d’Ivoire a été effectué du 31 juillet au 4 août 2016.
Training of Trainers Workshop of the French-speaking Port Management network in Nantes

From 14 to 24 June 2016, 27 senior port managers (10 women) from 9 French-speaking port communities in Africa and the Caribbean successfully completed a Training of Trainers Workshop covering the first part of the course on Modern Port Management. With enhanced knowledge on the functioning of modern ports, graduates now look forward to acting as local instructors of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade course in their home port communities.

32 senior port managers representing 10 countries from the port communities of Africa (Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria) and Asia (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives and the Philippines) successfully completed the Training of Trainers Workshop and took part in the International Coordination Meeting 2016 of the English-speaking network from 24 May to 3 June 2016 in Dublin. Impressed by the crucial role of the programme in the development and modernization of their ports, the prospective ports expressed keen interest to join the network.
African and Asian port managers trained as instructors for ongoing training programme

Thirty-two managers from ports in ten African and Asian countries completed a training of trainers workshop for UNCTAD's port management programme, held from 24 May to 3 June 2016 in Dublin, Ireland.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mr. Joakim Reiter, Deputy Secretary General of UNCTAD, undertook an advisory mission to Tehran on 27 February 2016. The purpose of the visit was to discuss possible technical assistance and capacity building that UNCTAD could provide in the context of Iran’s trade-related reforms in particular accession to the WTO.

Two dozen managers from the two main ports of Ghana presented case studies they had conducted as part of UNCTAD's Port Training Programme. The national port authority, encouraged by the results, committed to a fourth cycle of training.
