National Competition Legislation

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation praised UNCTAD for its work carried out in the field of competition law and policy at the plenary session of an event held on Russian Competition Day in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 8 September.

A global programme to support competition and consumer protection policies was launched in Lima, Peru on 5 May at the headquarters of Peru’s Competition Authority, INDECOPI.​

An UNCTAD programme to strengthen competition and consumer protection policies has been launched in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.

UNCTAD and the newly appointed President of the PROCOMPETENCIA of the Dominican Republic, Mrs. Michelle Cohen, met to discuss the strengthening of the relationship between the two organisations.

UNCTAD Deputy Secretary General Petko Draganov headed a group of competition experts at a 29 January meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor F. Yanukovych.

Dr. Luis Humberto Guzmán, President of the Nicaragua National Institute for the Promotion of Competition (Procompetencia)  has requested UNCTAD to undertake a peer review of Nicaragua's competition policy and law number 601 of 2008. ​
