UNCTAD's Trade and Development Report 2015, launched today, calls for radical reform of the international monetary and financial system to meet the demands of the new sustainable development era.

The sixth session of the Trade and Development Commission included an informal meeting in the afternoon of its first day to consider “The Role of International Trade in the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.​

Building on the international trade agreement reached in Bali should link into efforts to establish global development goals for after 2015, UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi said during the Second Geneva Dialogue on the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda.

The Deputy Secretary-General of UNCTAD has discussed intensified cooperation for aid to Africa, with the heads of three Japanese development agencies. The meetings took place on the occasion of the fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V), which was held in Yokohama from 1 to 3 June. ​

Leaders of the "BRICS" nations - the emerging industrial powers Brazil, Russian Federation, India, China, and South Africa - reaffirmed UNCTAD's development work in the fields of trade, investment, finance, and technology.
