United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity

The CEB Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity is an interagency mechanism dedicated to the coordination of trade and development operations at the national and regional levels within the UN system.

The Cluster, makes a concrete and direct contribution to the UN system-wide coherence reform by coordinating its participation in the:

Delivering as One UN Pilots and countries involved in a new UNDAF process, and
United Nations Development Group (UNDG) machinery, in view of the formulation of new United Nations rules and standard mechanisms for development operations.

Membership

The Cluster is led by UNCTAD and includes UNIDO, UNDP, ITC, FAO, WTO, UNEP, ILO, UNCITRAL, UNOPS and the five UN Regional Commissions.

UNCTAD, as coordinator of the United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity, has set up and participated in a five-day mission to Myanmar in cooperation with four other United Nations organizations.

UNCTAD has held a meeting of the United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity with the Permanent Mission of Myanmar in Geneva. Participating in the meeting were representatives of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the International Trade Centre, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and the United Nations Office for Project Services.

17 October 2012Meeting of the Global Management Board of the SECO-sponsored UN Trade Cluster initiative

The Global Management Board of the UN Trade Cluster initiative, which is sponsored by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), met on 15 October 2012 to review its current operations, and to endorse its annual work plan for the Lao People's Democratic Republic, to discuss the next steps to be taken towards a new project to be launched in the United Republic of Tanzania, and to consider possible future projects in further countries.
