
The objective of the UNCTAD Insurance Programme is to assist developing countries and countries with economies in transition to set up insurance capacity, competitive and well-regulated insurance markets and human resources development.
The programme accomplishes these objectives through policy analysis, consensus-building, the provision of targeted policy advice, and technical assistance.
The programme focuses its work on the following areas:
- Capacity building for the management of risks
- Catastrophe insurance risk coverage
- Insurance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
- International cooperation and negotiations on trade in insurance, insurance legislation and prudential regulation and supervision
- Insurance education and training
