Body

Inter-sessional Panel, held between annual sessions of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, is a high-level United Nations gathering that brings together governments, experts, and civil society to analyze "priority themes" in science, technology, and innovation for development.

The Panel acts as a key forum for identifying emerging technology trends—such as AI or digital transformation—and providing actionable, evidence-based policy recommendations to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

At the meeting, the Chair of the Working Group on Data Governance as Relevant for Development at All Levels will also report on the progress the Working Group will have made in preparing the progress report for submission to the General Assembly at its eighty-first session.

The findings and recommendations of the panel will be considered at the thirtieth session of the Commission from 19-23 April 2027.

Participation and registration

Participants will include representatives from national Governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society.

Representatives of other organizations, including non-governmental organizations in the general and special categories, should hold consultative status with the Economic and Social Council or have received accreditation from the World Summit on the Information Society.
