Disability inclusion is central to making trade and development work for everyone. Persons with disabilities face higher risks of poverty and exclusion.
This underlines the need to mainstream disability inclusion into development, trade and poverty reduction strategies.
Trade can support disability inclusion by improving access to goods, services, technologies, jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities. But this requires better data, more inclusive trade policies, accessible digital trade systems, targeted investment and measures that reduce trade barriers for persons with disabilities.
UNCTAD helps countries make trade, investment and markets more inclusive by providing data analysis, policy recommendations, technical cooperation and practical tools.
Our work supports disability-inclusive trade policy, better data on assistive products, inclusive digitalization, investment and trade facilitation, and greater participation of persons with disabilities in the global economy.
