The World Investment Forum is a high-level biennial multi-stakeholder gathering designed to facilitate dialogue and action on the world's key emerging investment-related challenges.
It is recognized by Governments and business leaders as one of the most important events for the international investment community, providing a high-level platform to interact with global leaders, senior policymakers, corporate executives, investors, investment promotion agencies, treaty negotiators, academia and civil society leaders from countries around the world.
The 2014 Forum will focus on challenges, opportunities and policy options to catalyse private sector participation in meeting sustainable development objectives and contribute to the formulation of the post-2015 United Nations development agenda.
The Forum will also be a pivotal event in this year of celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of UNCTAD.
Following the success of the previous events held in Ghana (2008), China (2010) and Qatar (2012), which gathered thousands of participants, the Geneva meeting will again serve as a global forum for inclusive dialogue and policy formulation on investment-development needs at the highest level.
It will feature high-profile events, including the World Leaders Investment Summit, a global thought leaders dialogue, a Ministerial Round Table, a high-level forum on investment in landlocked developing countries, the International Investments Agreement Conference, the Sustainable Stock Exchanges dialogue, the Investment Promotion Conference and prestigious award ceremonies.
There will also be a number of events organized in cooperation with other organizations.
