As we prepare for the release of DMFAS 7, many advancements will be available, not only in terms of functionalities, but also in data sharing and integration this new version brings. These features are designed to enhance how your organization manages and exchanges information, ensuring seamless interoperability with other systems.

One of the standout features of DMFAS 7 is its microservices architecture, which allows for more modular and efficient system components that will facilitate the integration of the debt database with other financial systems. The backend, or business layer, is in charge of handling business logic, using Java web services. The frontend, or presentation layer, is where the users interact, is built with Angular framework. These two layers  communicate through REST services, and an API manager oversees this interaction.  These REST services are designed to be publicly accessible, which means third-party applications can securely exchange information with DMFAS 7. This is particularly beneficial for integration with Integrated Financial Management Information Systems (IFMIS), facilitating a more cohesive and streamlined data management process and at the same time providing the following key benefits:

  • Security: The REST layer ensures that data exchanged between systems is secure. This means that your organization can confidently share sensitive financial information without the risk of data breaches or unauthorized access.
  • Correctness and Transparency: Information shared through DMFAS 7 is both accurate and transparent. The system validates and stores data using consistent processes, ensuring that the information is reliable and up-to-date.

Single Entry Point: By providing a single-entry point for various functions, DMFAS 7 reduces redundancy and minimizes errors. This centralization simplifies data management and enhances the overall efficiency of your operations.
The following graph depicts, in a simplified manner, the above.

Interface

For organizations currently using DMFAS 6, moving to DMFAS 7 will involve updating the existing interfaces to leverage the new web services and functionalities. This migration is not merely a technical upgrade but an opportunity to integrate more sophisticated data handling capabilities. The complexity of your existing setup will dictate the time and effort required for migration. However, the transition to using REST web services, as opposed to older methods (like SOAP web services or direct database connections), should be straightforward. The DMFAS technical team will provide detailed guidance and support throughout this process, which will mainly consist of:

  • Assess Current Interfaces: Review your existing DMFAS 6 interfaces to understand their current state and how they will map to the new DMFAS 7 services. Working in collaboration with the DMFAS helpdesk and technical team will ensure you have all the necessary information and support when navigating the complexities of the migration.
  • Plan and execute the Migration: Develop a clear migration plan that outlines the steps necessary to transition to DMFAS 7. This should include timelines, resource allocation, and key milestones. Engaging with the DMFAS helpdesk in these activities will ensure a successful implementation.

The data sharing and integration features of DMFAS 7 mark a significant improvement over previous versions. By adopting these new capabilities, your organization can benefit from enhanced security, accuracy, and efficiency in financial data management. The transition to DMFAS 7 is a strategic move that will position your organization for greater interoperability and operational excellence. For further assistance, the DMFAS helpdesk remains at your service, ready to help you make the most of these new features.
