The course “Investing in the Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of Diplomats” held on 18 September 2020, relaunched the 2020 series of short courses on key international economic issues for delegates from permanent missions to the United Nations Offices at Geneva and the World Trade Organization.
The course gave delegates a general overview of global FDI trends, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on FDI prospects and investment promotion, the financing gap to achieve Agenda 2030, and estimates on how much investment has been channeled so far to individual Goals. It also shed light on UNCTAD’s upcoming handbook on investment promotion for diplomats. This training session was delivered by the Investment Promotion Section of UNCTAD’s Division on Investment and Enterprise and was coordinated by the Knowledge Development Brach of UNCTAD’s Division on Technology and Logistics. Delegates from 25 countries attended.
