Istanbul Competition Forum Annual Webinar

This webinar is organized by the Turkish Competition Authority in cooperation with UNCTAD. It provides an opportunity to discuss three topics:

i. Competition issues in digital markets,

ii. Competition enforcement in times of COVID-19,      

iii. Competition Issues in labor markets The discussions will focus on competition problems in digital markets and how to address them; competition concerns arising in labor markets, including in the digital economy, which result from high and increasing market concentration.

UNCTAD will speak at the first two panels mentioned above. In the first panel, Ms. Teresa Moreira will present UNCTAD's perspectives on how to deal with platform market power in digital markets. In the second panel, Ms. Ebru Gokce Dessemond will present highlights from the recent UNCTAD report on the impact of COVID-19 on trade and development, as well as present policy recommendations addressed at competition law and policy during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event brings together competition law enforcers and experts to exchange experiences between competition agencies. The audience includes representatives of competition authorities from Eastern Europe, North Africa and Central Asia.
