UN Youth Café on Youth Entrepreneurship

UN Youth Café on Youth Entrepreneurship

The United Nations Youth Café; is a collaborative initiative of the United Nations and its partner organizations focused on youth. The Café meets in a periodic manner and serves as a platform where youth can discuss and learn more about topics of relevance to them, in the context of the SDGs, and explore the possibility of pursuing a career as an international civil servant or become inspired to make a positive impact in their commitment.

Young entrepreneurs are increasingly entering the market, driven by the flexibility and opportunities offered by new technologies, such as the gig economy and digital platforms. They have a number of challenges of their own. Being new on the job, they lack experience, are not part of business networks and have no, or little funds nor guarantees, among others. It is expected that the discussions and debates will provide strategic insights on challenges confronting youth, as well as opportunities, which will inform and empower them, and equip them with an understanding of how to engage in entrepreneurship. It will also inform UN Trade and Development, the UN Global Compact and other UN entities on the needs and challenges that (aspiring) youth entrepreneurs face.
