Members of the European Parliament will be attending UNCTAD XIII

As part of the European Union delegation, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will be attending the UNCTAD XIII conference in Doha later this month.​

Among the MEPs who have confirmed their participation at UNCTAD XIII are the following members of the European Parliament's Development Committee:

  • Ms. Franziska Keller, Germany, Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance       
  • Mr. Enrique Guerrero Salom, Spain, Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats
  • Ms. Iva Zanicchi, Italy, Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats)
  • Mr. Norbert Neuser, Germany, Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

The Development Committee of the European Parliament in Brussels is responsible for the promotion, implementation and monitoring of the development and cooperation policy of the Union, notably:

      (a) political dialogue with developing countries, bilaterally and in the relevant international organizations and interparliamentary
            fora 
      (b) aid to, and cooperation agreements with, developing countries
      (c) promotion of democratic values, good governance and human rights in developing countries.
 
The MEPs have requested a special meeting as a group with UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi during the course of the Conference in Doha.
