Debt officials from the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia successfully completed an ambitious online workshop in Debt Portfolio Analysis and Debt Statistics from 14 to 23 February 2022.
The training had two aims: to enable the sharing of regional/international experience and best practice in undertaking debt portfolio analysis ; and to support the review and update of Ethiopia’s current debt statistical bulletin and Debt Portfolio Analysis document. The workshop included theory, discussion, feedback, and recommendations for further strengthening the Ministry’s debt statistics and debt portfolio analysis publications.
The training was organized within the framework of UNCTAD’s latest project with Ethiopia which has also included training in a) the advanced features of the DMFAS system for the recording, reporting and analysis of Ethiopia’s public and public-guaranteed debt and b) strengthened debt data validation procedures for ensuring the reliability of the DMFAS debt database. Thirteen participants from the Debt Management Directorate attended this latest training event.
