The three workshops, held on 8 December 2021 in Mohéli and Grande Comore and on 10 December 2021 in Anjouan, target primarily the academic and research communities of the Comoros.
The purpose of the workshops, jointly organized by UNCTAD and the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in the Comoros, is to present the findings of UNCTAD's The Least Developed Countries Report 2021 and its implications for the Comoros, in order to favour dialogue on research, analysis and policies between national researchers and UN System officials. This is especially important in the context of the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, the country’s slow pace of development of productive capacities and the development challenges the Comoros will face in the coming years. This will also be the period of preparation for the possible graduation of the country from the LDC category.
