Promoting fish exports from Least Developed Countries

UNCTAD is to organize a training and capacity building Workshop in Moroni, Comoros, from 28 to 30 July 2015. The workshop is part of UNCTAD's project titled: Building the capacities of selected Least Developed Countries to upgrade and diversify their fish exports.

Online course on trade and gender deemed a success

Sixty-six participants from forty countries successfully completed the first edition of UNCTAD's online course on trade and gender, held from 19 January to 8 March 2015. All participants agreed the course had met or exceeded their expectations and enhanced their knowledge of the trade-gender links.
UNCTAD Secretary-General certifies port managers in Djibouti

The Secretary General of UNCTAD, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, awarded 18 participants of the TrainForTrade/UNCTAD Port Training Programme with the UNCTAD Certificate in Modern Port Management in Djibouti on 17 February 2015. The participants from Djibouti's port community had previously successfully defended their final dissertations focusing on challenges within their area of work. The juries on the dissertation panels comprised representatives from partner ports of the French-speaking network of the Programme.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the United Nations Office at Geneva Patricia O'Brian and senior representatives of two Irish ports at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 18 September 2014.
New online training course on Non-Tariff Measures to be launched by UNCTAD

Port managers upgrade skills they can pass on at home as part of ongoing UNCTAD training programme

Earlier this month, 30 senior port managers completed UNCTAD training as local instructors for the English-speaking network of its TrainForTrade Port Training Programme. The newly trained managers will now be responsible for assisting UNCTAD in delivering the Modern Port Management course in their respective ports in Ghana, Indonesia, Nigeria and the Philippines.

UNCTAD trained 19 senior managers as local instructors of its TrainForTrade Port Training Programme. The training was organized in Manila, Philippines from 19 to 22 November, in collaboration with the Philippine Ports Authority.
