The Islamic Republic of Iran and UNCTAD agreed on furthering cooperation in the area of trade-related issues including WTO accession

At the invitation of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mr. Joakim Reiter, Deputy Secretary General of UNCTAD, undertook an advisory mission to Tehran on 27 February 2016. The purpose of the visit was to discuss possible technical assistance and capacity building that UNCTAD could provide in the context of Iran’s trade-related reforms in particular accession to the WTO.

UNCTAD’s Virtual Institute and the Division on International Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities has awarded the "UNCTAD Certified Non-Tariff Measures Data Collector Certificate" to 60 participants of the first online course on non-tariff measures.

A new UNCTAD publication reports on the effects of non-tariff measures in the developing world. The publication, "Non-tariff Measures to Trade: Economic and Policy Issues for Developing Countries," seeks to inform policymakers and other stakeholders about issues relating to non-tariff measures, which pose ever more challenges to international trade policies.
South–South Trade Monitor No. 2 now available

UNCTAD South–South Trade Monitor No. 2 reports on general trends with regard to the magnitude and dynamics of South–South exports, and their sectoral composition. South–South merchandise exports in 2011 reached US$4 trillion, or a quarter of the world’s exports. In the past two decades, all developing regions have significantly increased their exports to the South.
